About VitalChoice
How we handle information, and where our limits are.
VitalChoice is an educational resource, not a clinical service. Here's how the content and tools are put together.
Review standards
Every guide and calculator on VitalChoice is checked against widely used, publicly available formulas and general health guidelines before it's published. We favor established, well-documented methods — like the Karvonen and Mifflin-St Jeor equations — over novel or unverified ones, and we say plainly when a figure is a rough estimate rather than a precise measurement.
Content is revisited periodically and updated if a widely accepted guideline changes. We don't attribute claims to specific studies, researchers, or institutions unless we can point to that source directly, and we avoid citing figures we can't stand behind.
Information & data sourcing
Calculators use standard, published formulas rather than proprietary models. Guide content draws on general public health guidance and common clinical consensus, written in our own words rather than copied from any single source. Where a topic has genuine scientific disagreement, we say so instead of picking a side.
Editorial approach
We write for people making everyday decisions, not for other clinicians. That means plain language, honest caveats, and no dramatization of ordinary health topics. We do not publish content designed to alarm, and we do not name individual doctors, researchers, or hospitals in connection with our guides.
Privacy
The calculators and daily log widget run entirely in your browser. Numbers you type into a tool are not transmitted, stored, or linked to you — they exist only for that page session and disappear on reload. Contact form submissions are used solely to respond to your message.
Data ethics
We don't sell health-related data, build behavioral profiles from tool inputs, or use calculator results to target advertising. If that ever changes, we'll say so clearly on this page before it happens, not after.
